US immigration brought in an agency that is known for handling major and critical emergencies and natural disasters to help in caring for the daily increase of migrant children arriving at the US border with Mexico.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (Fema) would help receive, shelter and transport the children for the next 90 days, it was announced.
According to his campaign manifesto, President Joe Biden has been actively overturning some of Donald Trump’s policies.
It’s quite obvious that the recent spurt in arrival is laying a load on the existing processing system.
As of the 8th of March, the recorded number of children that are being held in US Immigration facilities on the US southern border is 3,200.
Each day witness new arrival, which involves hundreds of immigrants and several others are still being held beyond the three-day limit for being ‘processed and transferred.’
Alejandro Mayorkas, the secretary of Homeland Security explained last week that the circumstance on the border was overwhelming but it’s presently on the verge of crisis.
Mr Mayorkas announces FEMA’s involvement and adds that the agency is going to partner with the Health and human services Department (HSS) to look at every available option to quickly expand physical capacity for appropriate lodging.
“Our goal is to ensure that unaccompanied children are transferred to HHS as quickly as possible, consistent with legal requirements and in the best interest of the children,” he further explained.

During the campaign period, Mr Biden pledged to nullify several of Donald Trump’s restrictive migrant policies.
President Joe Biden was sworn in January, and he decreed and ensure the implementation of reunifying of migrant children with their families, completed the construction of the border wall. He also called for a survey of the US legal immigration programs cancelled by the former governor.
At the same period that President Joe Biden was sworn in, a total number of 5,871 isolated children crossed the border. Meanwhile, the number reported in December s 4,995 – this is in regards to the data from the US customs and border Protection (CPB).
The number of children that are still in the custody of the US Immigration facilities has been thrice as much in two weeks, as of the 8th of March, the number stands at 3,250. As regards the number, almost half of the children had been detained longer than the lawful three-day limit and were in CBP-managed facilities that were originally constructed for an adult – most of these kids their age fall under the range of 15-17 years.
