Bernie Sanders endorses ex-rival Joe Biden

An American politician, Bernie Sanders, who served as a member of the United States House of Representatives from 1991 to 2007, and was elected to represent Vermont in the U.S. Senate in 2006, withdrew from the 2020 United States presidential race. He has been the senator representing Vermont in the U.S. Senate to date.

In 2016, Bernie Sanders sought the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination. In a field of six significant candidates, he became the runner up with 46% of the pledged delegates behind Hillary Clinton, who won the contest with 54%. He also sought the Democratic Party’s nomination in 2020, with his formal announcement on February 19, 2019.

In a live stream video on April 13, Monday afternoon, Bernie Sanders declared his intention of withdrawing from the presidential race, and he threw his support behind Joe Biden. It was a decision to unite the Democratic party ahead of the general election on November 3, 2020, against Donald Trump of the Republican Party.

Former Vice President, Joe Biden who was also present at the live webcast, appreciated Senator Sanders for the endorsement and solicited more of the Vermont Senator’s support during the election.

“You’ve put the interests of this nation and the need to beat Donald Trump above all else. As you say – ‘Not me, us’,” Biden said.

Mr Biden added in the live stream, addressing Bernie’s supporters: “I see you, I hear you, I understand the urgency of what it is that we have to get done in this country, and I hope you’ll join us.”

Senator Bernie Sanders assured Joe Biden of his support. He urged all Americans to unite together to defeat Trump, who he described as “the most dangerous president in the modern history of this country.”

Addressing all Americans, Senator Sanders said, “Today I am asking all Americans – I’m asking every Democrat, I’m asking every independent, I’m asking a lot of Republicans – to come together in this campaign to support your candidacy which I endorse.”

Joe Biden, an American politician who served as the 47th vice president of the United States from 2009 to 2017, has been nominated by the Democratic party and endorsed by Senator Bernie Sanders. This was done with the hope that he is the only one capable of defeating Donald Trump of the Republican, his running mate, in the coming general election.
