Trump Tests Negative for Coronavirus, White House Doctor Says

Following the recommendations from Citizens that President Donald Trump should undergo the coronavirus test, the White House physician announced that he has been tested negative.

It was earlier reported that Trump had physical contact and also dined with Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro and his press secretary at Mar-a-Lago on Friday of which the Brazilian President has been tested positive for the virus.

On Saturday, Trump revealed that he has taken the test and is waiting patiently for the results, he formerly said on Friday while having a press conference that he would take the test after the press conference.

He was asked by a pressman whether he would take the test or not. A reporter also asked whether he was being “selfish” by not getting tested – even when other administrative officials advised self-isolation after exposure to an infected person.

Trump replied: “I didn’t say I wasn’t going to be tested”. 

The White House physician declared on Saturday that he had a long-term discussion with the President regarding the coronavirus outbreak and he has subscribed to the idea of taking the test.

On Sunday, the White House physician confirmed that the result is negative.

The physician also made it clear that he has been having daily contact with CDC ‘Center for Disease Control’ and White House Coronavirus Task Forces to ensure there are no errors in the results.

He said: “We are encouraging the implementation of all their best practices for exposure reduction and transmission mitigation.”

Vice President Mike Pence announced that he hasn’t been tested but he would like to do so. He said this on Saturday.

He said that he would like to have a talk with the White House physician after the conference and schedule his own test including Mrs. Pence as well. He added: “Mrs. Pence and I would be more than happy to be tested.”

To avoid spreading of the virus inside the White House, temperature checks are now being performed on everyone in close contact with the President and the Vice President. According to what Deputy Press Secretary Judd Deere said in a statement, he noted that these temperature checks include members of the media who attended the news conference.

Numbers of people who have contracted this virus are increasing my, including members of Congress like Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. These two have been into self-isolation after they had contact with people having confirmed cases of the virus.

Just recently, Sophie Gregoire Trudeau, wife of Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, tested positive for the virus. Though the prime minister has seen no symptoms, he and Sophie are in isolation.
