Sofia Vergara Faces Backlash As Stylish Selfie Shows Kitchen Maid

Sofia Vergara is under fire. The “Modern Family” alum and “America’s Got Talent” judge was out to showcase her stunning fashion sense as she headed out for the first time in months this weekend, but the snap capturing the Colombian’s home maid has sparked a storm on her Instagram.

Sofia, followed by 20.4 million, updated her account on Saturday in selfie mode from her kitchen and showing off a corset and pants look from the Dolce & Gabbana label she fronts. The actress, looking flawles in patterned green-and-yellow pants with a plunging black top and a designer handbag, showed off the curves and the high-end taste from her L.A. mansion, writing:

“First night out in 7 months!!!🎉🎉🎉😷😷😷.”

The post, which has racked up over 400,000 likes, might have proven popular as fans gushed over the ABC face’s sense of style, but the comments section has now sparked a storm. The background showed a masked house help clearing up, and it looks like fans aren’t warming to the scene.

Kicking it off was a comment that didn’t prove slamming, but other remarks were. “Did anyone else notice the masked lady in the background doing dishes? 🤣,” the user wrote.

“The cleaning lady in the back omg Sofia 😭😭😭,” one fan exclaimed.

Others, meanwhile, slammed Sofia for her privilege. The actress made headlines this year for being the highest-paid actress on television, with earnings of $43 million in one year.

“Her slave I mean housekeeper probs has to ware that all day working for miss Varga even though the chance of her getting covid and dying or having a serious issue is like 99.99% unlikely,” one fan wrote.

“And I thought why aren’t they both masked up? Is it only Sophia that needs protection? Nope,” a further fan said.

Sofia does not appear to have addressed the backlash, but the sitcom star was backed. Some felt that Sofia continuing to employ the maid amid the global pandemic was a positive. Likewise voiced, was the sentiment that Sofia was ensuring her household help was adequately protected by wearing a face mask. Others, meanwhile, pointed out that having a maid isn’t all that bad. Furthermore, that Vergara was at a distance.

Sofia’s $43 million earnings likely don’t include her further lucrative gigs. The star is now earning a salary on competition series “America’s Got Talent.” Alongside her denim line with retail giant and fronting Dolce & Gabbana, Vergara also has an eyewear collab with Foster Grant.
