Simone Biles Slammed For No-Mask Weekend Girl Power Photo

Simone Biles took under an hour to have the COVID police shading her today. The 23-year-old gymnast dedicated her weekend update to a little heat and Girl Power as she posed with friends for a post saying men aren’t necessary, with the 30-time Olympic and World medalist definitely getting her message across.

Simone’s photos, showing a rear-view shot as she posed outside a Texas building with girlfriends, delivered the Ohio native’s sense of fun, but fans are thinking something else. The group shot, taken outside a building and seeing Biles in tight jeans, a matching black tee, and booties, now sees users slamming the gymnast for not wearing a mask during a global pandemic.

“Forget our men we’re the real view,” Simone had written. No sign of 25-year-old NFL player boyfriend Jonathan Owens today, but the Houston Texans player is all over his girlfriend’s IG.

Simone’s post wasn’t even an hour old before the most-liked reply called her out.

“Glad to see happy, strong women Simone, but I’d be more impressed if you & your squad had masks on out of love and respect for each other, your family and even strangers. Thanks so much! 😷” the user wrote.

“So….Covid is over in Texas?” another asked.

Simone, whose entire career has been derailed due to the pandemic via both the cancelation of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and USA Gymnastics, does not appear to have responded to the backlash. The star has been busy slowly shifting her training from at-home only to back in the gym.

The biggest headline-maker for Simone this summer has been that “boo” boyfriend, though. Jonathan Owens, 25, replaces Simone’s ex Stacey Ervin Jr., with the gymnast confirming her split earlier this year as she spoke to Vogue.

“It’s hard being young and having that long of a relationship and then ending it,” she said. “But it was for the best.”

Simone’s pandemic has not, however, purely been Gramming out in bikinis and introducing her new man. The star made global headlines for her home-delivered “Handstand Challenge” during early parts of COVID, also partnering up with the Nike sportswear brand she fronts to encourage staying home and social distancing. She joins the likes of tennis superstar Serena Williams in the Nike campaign.
