Sean Connery, James Bond Actor Dies, Aged 90

Sean Connery, the actor who originated the role of James Bond in movies, has given up the ghost at the age of 90 in the Bahamas. The family of the legendary actor confirmed his death to BBC on Saturday.

According to his wife, Michelin Roquebrune, who spoke with the Daily Mail, said his husband has suffered from dementia in his final months. Mrs. Roquebrune stressed further that her late husband has been unable to express himself in the month, leading to his death. “It was no life for him,” she said. Adding that the actor died in his sleep, which was a good sign of a peaceful death.

The Scottish actor, Sir Sean, who was knighted in 2000 by the queen, acted for seven decades and has won several awards, including an Oscar award for his role in The untouchable. He also won three Golden Globes and two Bafta awards. While he was still alive, Sir Sean starred in numerous films, including The Hunt for Red October, Highlander, Indiana Jones, and the Last Crusade, and The Rock.

His publicist Nancy Seltzer also confirmed that there would be a private ceremony in order to celebrate the death of the legendary actor, followed by a memorial. He added that the event would be planned once the virus has ended.

Immediately after his death, tributes began to pour out for Sir Sean, who was considered one of his generation’s greatest actors.

Daniel Craig, the current James Bond, paid his tribute to the Scottish actor. He said Sir Sean was “one of the true greats of cinema.” According to him, Sir Sean Connery will be remembered as Bond and so much more.

“He defined an era and a style. The wit and charm he portrayed on screen could be measured in megawatts; he helped create the modern blockbuster.
“He will continue to influence actors and film-makers alike for years to come. My thoughts are with his family and loved ones.” He said.

According to AFP, Sir Sean Connery is the first actor to utter the unforgettable “Bond, James Bond.” He made six official films as novelist Ian Fleming’sFleming’s creation, giving what many still consider as the definitive portrayal.
