Rosalind Knight was birthed on December 3, 1933, and was an English actress whose career spanned over 70 years.
She’s popularly called “Horrible Grandma” by her younger audiences in the channel 4 comedy. The memories she created with her roles in the early Carry On Films will make her remembered forever.
During her acting career, the films she appeared in include Carry On Nurse and Carry On Teacher in the 1950s. Also, she acted as a schoolgirl in 1957, At St Trinian’s, and decades later, she became was a teacher in the wildcats of St Trinians in 1980.

Rosalind knight’s acting and drama career stretched for more than sixty years. On the stage, she created her name opposite Vanessa Redgrave in the 1961 Royal Shakespeare Company production of As You Like It.
Rosalind Knight’s numerous film appearances included Tom Jones, The Lady Vanishes, Start The Revolution Without Me Opposite Genre Wilder, Prick Up Your Ears, The Lady In The Van, and About A Boy With Hugh Grant.
The family of Rosalind Knight expresses their grievances in the following statement ” It is with huge sadness that the family of Rosalind Knight announces her death following a glorious career as a well-loved actress in Theatre, Tv, and film.”
“She was known to many generations, for different roles, and will be missed as much by the kids today who howl at Horrible Grandma in Friday Night Dinner as by those of us who are old enough to remember her in the very first Carry On films.”
She also starred as a retired prostitute Beryl in BBC sitcom Gimme, Gimme, Gimme, which ran from 1999 to 2001, with Kathy Burke and James Dreyfus.
The last sentence from Rosalind came with the famous 1980 Cockburn’s Special. Reserve port alert with “Did anyone bring the petit fours?”
She was lauded by her daughters, theatre director Marianne Elliot and fellow actress Susanah Elliot, who said she would be remembered for her “Immense spirit and sense of fun and her utter individuality.”
Her daughters said, ” Our mother had the most astute, vibrant personality and made people laugh whenever she went.”
“She was an active member of her local historical society and opera society and was a fierce campaigner and fundraiser for the Hogarth Trust. Rosalind Knight will be greatly missed by all who knew her, ranking from her family, co-workers, her viewers which include adult and kids,” she added.
