Rio Ferdinand Suggests Keen Front Players He Wants at Manchester United

A television pundit and former Manchester United captain, Rio Ferdinand, believes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is on the edge point of not being able to name keen front players at Old Trafford.

Ole Gunnar Solskjær was a player and the current manager of the English football club, Manchester United. He is a Norwegian professional football manager and has spent most of his career with Manchester United. As a football manager, Solskjær also supervises a training academy for young footballers in his home town, Kristiansund, Norway.

The 47-year-old man brought an excellent turnaround to Manchester United since his appointment as caretaker manager 18 months ago. His five signings – Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire, Daniel James, Bruno Fernandes, and Odion Ighalo to the club, proved his great managerial skill and improved the team’s performances.

The Norwegian has also been cruel in getting rid of players, discarding the likes of Chris Smalling, Romelu Lukaku, Ander Herrera, Marcos Rojo, Marouane Fellaini, and Matteo Darmian, as well as a host of others.

Manchester United was moving towards her peak before the English league went on a break due to the current pandemic. With Nemanja Matic, Fred, and Scott McTominay, all playing excellently before the break, Solskjaer will have some selection difficulty.

However, Rio Ferdinand believes Pogba can slot in the midfield, alongside McTominay and Fernandes, and Jadon Sancho would be the perfect addition in attack alongside Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.

‘If I was looking at the team now and you have McTominay with Bruno Fernandes on one side of the three and Pogba on the other,’ said Rio Ferdinand, speaking on FIVE’s YouTube channel.

“Rashford upfront, Martial on the left, James or if they’re to buy Sancho on the right, you can’t tell me that other midfielders aren’t going to be thinking, If these guys are fire today and we’re going to have to be on a game, it’s going to be a hard day work for us. There’s ability there, and it’s ridiculous. If they can find that cohesion the team set-up for them to flourish, it’s ‘mouthwatering’ what could happen,” Ferdinard said.

The television pundit continued, “But we need Paul Pogba fit, we need him in that team and to see what he’s like to be if the relationship can be built with the players and the players Ole is acquiring now.”

“It’s up to Paul Pogba, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the powers at the club, whether Paul Pogba stays at the football club. ‘Look I want him to stay, I’m a Manchester United fan and I want to see him wearing the red shirt so we can compete for the league and other things,” Ferdinand said. Though, the former Manchester United captain is desperate for Pogba to remain in the club. However, Rio accepts if he were in Pogba’s position, he’d hunt for a departure from the club after receiving criticism since rejoining the Red Devils. ‘If I were him and I’ve been treated the way he has with the media. I’d be saying, You know what? – I don’t need this in my life’, said Ferdinand. ‘There’s more to life than coming here and getting criticized when he’s not even playing. Why be a part of that?.’ Rio continued, “If I were him, honestly, United fans won’t thank me for it, but I’d be thinking that I think it’s unfair some of the criticism he gets, and some of that is based on social media presence, which I think is ridiculous.”
