Twenty-four people are known to have died when part of the 12-storey block in Surfside collapsed on 24 June
The leftover section of a partly demolished house block close to Miami has been destroyed over safety concerns as a storm comes to Florida
On Sunday evening, explosives were utilized to collapse the last standing section which has been deserted, explosive charges were used to bring down the last standing part of Champlain Towers South, which had been evacuated.
On 23 June, part of the area suddenly crashed. Twenty-four lost their lives and 121 still yet to be found.
Officials continued the search for people within a few hours of the collapse. They hope to come into the apartment area garage, where they could not come in successfully, and have a good view of holes in the debris.
The destruction was suggested after fears were brought up due to the incoming tropical storm Elsa.
No persons were pulled from the rubble at the site in Surfside since a few hours after the building destruction.
The demolition operation was brought forward after concerns were raised over the approaching Tropical Storm Elsa, which could reach Florida on Tuesday.

On Sunday mayor Charles Burkett stated there was a danger that hurricanes could cause additional debris and cause danger to lives.
He revealed that experts would be able to check how the building would collapse and the destruction could “potentially open up a third of the pile (of rubble ) “ for emergency teams to access.
Tarpaulin was placed over the existing debris to prevent any dust or debris caused by it.
Although no other buildings were deserted, people were told to stay indoors and close their windows only to open them after two hours of the building collapse.
Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava stated the controlled destruction went exactly as planned.
“I feel relieved because this building was unstable. The building was hampering our search efforts,” she said to Associated Press.
Ms. Levine Cava sent condolences to the families of the missing and said those who were forced to leave the remaining part of the area had left their entire lives behind.
She said teams surveyed the buildings using drones with thermal imaging cameras to confirm that there were no pets still in the structures.
What caused the 40-year-old Champlain Towers South to collapse remains unclear. A 2018 inspection, however, warned of major errors in the original design.
The building committee board has said it will appoint an independent receiver to oversee the legal and claims process.
Personnel is still checking if other Miami tower blocks in the area have potential flaws.
