Simon Cowell broke his back while testing out a new electric bicycle. Cowell’s rep confirmed that the America’s Got Talent host fell off his bike at his home in Malibu while he was spending the day with his family; his partner, Lauren Silverman, and his six-year-old son, Eric.
The 60 years old star was taken to the hospital and has gone through surgery. According to Cowell’s rep, “he’s doing fine for a guy who just severely hurt his back.”
The British star made a tweet on Sunday after he was forced to undergo surgery.
“Some good advice … If you buy an electric trail bike, read the manual before you ride it for the first time,” Cowell tweeted. “I have broken part of my back. Thank you to everyone for your kind messages.”
“And a massive thank you to all the nurses and doctors,” he tweeted. “Some of the nicest people I have ever met. Stay safe, everyone, Simon.”
However, Kelly Clarkson replaced Simon Cowell on America’s Got Talent as he recovers at home from his back injury.
Kelly Clarkson, the former American Idol winner, told her fans on Twitter, “I really need to work on my British accent…,” before the live the programme, which was aired in the US on NBC.
She later posted a short video in which she sat in Cowell’s judging chair with excitement, and she said, “I think I could get used to this!”.
Um, Simon, don’t hurry back… I’m getting real comfortable in your chair, “she joked,” I look pretty good in it! I’m just kidding, get well!”
Cowell didn’t take offense. He tweeted after the programme: “Thank you, Kelly Clarkson. Miss all of you. What a Great Show.”
On NBC headed notepaper, Kelly Clarkson wrote: “My friend, Simon Cowell, is doing better now but was in an accident and won’t be able to make Tuesday and Wednesday’s live shows for AGT, but no worries America, someone far wiser, cooler and hotter is taking his seat!”
“The unbelievably amazing Kelly Clarkson. You’re welcome in advance,” she added.
Moreover, Simon Cowell, the creator of America’s Got Talent and judge on Britain’s Got Talent, The X Factor, and American Idol has thanked medical staff for their care.
