
Judi Dench has become the oldest person ever to feature on the cover of British Vogue at the age of 85.
Judi Dench features on the fashion magazine’s June issue, which was photographed before the lockdown in the United Kingdom, and she was acknowledged as “one of the nation’s most beloved citizens,” by the editor-in-chief, Edward Enninful on an Instagram post.
“I can’t tell you how pleased I am to see Dame Judi Dench, the unassailable queen of stage and screen, starring on her first Vogue cover at the age of 85,” he wrote.
Judith Dench is an English actress, artist, and author. She has performed in several plays of Shakespeare and is best known for her role in the James Bond movie “Sky fall.”
In an interview with the magazine, Judi talked about the coronavirus pandemic and her self-isolation at her residence in Surrey.
“I am sure I feel like everyone else, such unprecedented times are quite hard to comprehend,” Judi said.
“What is good is that it has made people aware of the predicament of others who are completely alone,” she continued, “If a great deal of kindness comes out of this, that will be a plus.”
Furthermore, the Oscar winner has gained more popularity on social media during this pandemic with several videos trending on the internet.
One of such was a video of Judith Dench urging everyone to keep laughing because that is all they can do. This was posted by her daughter in March.
Another video was that of a public service poem from Judi Dench and Gyles Brandeth.
British Vogue is a British fashion magazine. Vogue has been around for more than 125 years, with its British edition launching in 1916.
