Johnson & Johnson COVID Vaccine: FDA Approves Single-Shot Jab

Johnson and Johnson Vaccine jab is designed to be a cost-effective alternative to the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines with other attributes – it can be stored in a refrigerator instead of a freezer.

Various jab examinations reveal that it prevented serious illness but was 66% effective when moderate cases were included.

The coronavirus vaccine was developed and produced by J&J’s Janssen Pharmaceutical division.

Johnson & Johnson company has reached a consensus with the United States to provide 100 Million doses before the last week of June. By Next week, the residents of the US are expected to witness the first doses.

Other than the United States, the UK, EU, and Canada have also requested doses, and almost 500 million doses of vaccine will be available to poorer nations through the Covax scheme.

On Sunday, French Industry Minister Agnès Pannier-Runacher announced that the European Medicine Agency is liable to authorize the vaccine for the EU in early March, and a speedy rollout is expected to follow.

President Joe Biden praised it as exciting news for all Americans and encouraging development but added that the fight is far from over.

“Though we celebrate today’s news, I urge all Americans – keep washing your hands, stay socially distanced, and keep wearing masks,” he said in a statement.

“As I have said many times, things are still likely to get worse again as new variants spread, and the current improvement could reverse.”

President Joe Biden’s chief medical adviser, Anthony Fauci, publicized his advice on Sunday that the citizens took the Johnson & Johnson jab when he was questioned about the effectiveness compared with the other two authorized vaccines.

Dr. Fauci answered NBC: “All three of them are quite good, and people should take the one that’s most available to them. If you go to a place and you have J&J, and that’s the one that’s available now, I would take it.”

The 80 years Old Dr. Fauci is not expected to take the J & J vaccine as he was administered his second dose of Moderna last week.

The Johnson and Johnson authorization by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) was achievable after an external committee of experts unanimously approved the vaccine on Friday.

Effects from examination administered in the US, South Africa, and Brazil revealed Johnson & Johnson’s coronavirus vaccine was more than 85% effective at preventing severe illness and 66% effective overall when moderate cases were involved.
