According to the sources, “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” fame is arrested for running a fake nationwide telemarketing scheme. The star’s name is Jen Shah. She gained immense fame to become one of the breakout stars of the show.

Recently, the officials imposed federal charges on her this Tuesday 30 March 2021. Moreover, they arrested one of her assistants along with her. He’s identified as Stuart Smith, who also made an appearance on Bravo show . Both of them are facing prison time right now.

Jen Shah is a 47-year-old celebrity, while her assistant Stuart is 43 years old. They are charged with conspiracy of committing wire fraud in connection with telemarketing. Another charge includes the commitment to money laundering. The duo also made their appearance in Salt Lake City federal court on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Salt Lake Tribune, they were released on the following conditions:

  1. Not entering pleas.
  2. The court has ordered them not to dissipate cash or assets.
  3. They aren’t allowed to spend any money from personal or company accounts exceeding $10,000.
  4. It is mandatory for them to attend all the upcoming hearings.
  5. Neither of them can contact each other.
  6. They have lost their privilege to travel outside of Utah except for New York, that too merely for court hearings.
  7. Neither of them must commit new crimes.

According to the sources, Jen Shah and her assistant carried out a wide-ranging telemarketing scheme. This scheme defrauded hundreds of victims, where, most of them were over the age of 55.

Jennifer Shah portrays herself as a wealthy and successful businessperson on reality television. While Stuart Smith portrays himself as her first assistant. They together allegedly generated and sold lead lists of innocent individuals for other members of their scheme to repeatedly scam them. This statement came from Manhattan U.S. Attorney Audrey Strauss on Tuesday.

In actual reality and as alleged, the so-called business opportunities pushed on the victims by the duo and their co-conspirators were just fraudulent schemes. They were motivated by greed to steal victims’ money. Fortunately, these defendants are facing time in prison for their alleged crimes.

The crime of telemarketing fraud committed by the duo is a punishable offense, which attracts a maximums sentence of 30 years. While the other crime of money laundering can attract a maximum sentence of 20 years.
