In the wake of the recent mutant COVID-19 spread in the UK, the US government has taken strict action. It’s to avoid the spreading of the disease in the nation. On one side, multiple nations have temporarily reclosed their connectivity from Britain. While on the other side, the United States has decided to take other measures.

Must Test Negative For COVID-19 Test

The United States government has declared, that all the airline passengers arriving from Great Britain have got 72 hours to test negative for the COVID-19 test. The 72 hours time frame starts from the time of original departure. This means that the 72 hours time window includes the travel time. It will be made mandatory from the upcoming Monday, which is 28 December 2020.

There are still no proper measures to detect the mutant  COVID-19. So, all the nations from all over the world have decided to stick to the regular COVID-19 tests and checkups. Instead of restricting the transportation or closing the boundaries for the UK, the United States has decided to incorporate the new testing system.

• Earlier, the Trump association said to the US airlines recently, that it wasn’t planning to require any testing for the incoming passengers from Great Britain.
• The British Embassy in Washington didn’t respond immediately to this decision.
• United Airlines and Delta Airlines recently said that they were asking all the passengers to show a negative COVID-19 test report within 72 hours of departure from Great Britain.
• The so-called COVID-19 test must be done via a PCR or Antigen test- said CDC.
• CDC also said that the viruses keep on changing constantly by the process of mutation.
• Shockingly, the preliminary analysis in the UK indicate unfortunate results. The new mutant of the COVID-19 virus might be up to 70% more transmissible as compared to its older versions.
• Furthermore, the CDC stated that Donald Trump suspended the entry of all the foreigners who’ve visited the United Kingdom in the last 14 days. This action was taken back in March 2020. This as a result reduced air travel to the US from Britain by nearly 90%.

More About The New Mandatory Rule

Under this new act, all the passengers who will fly to the US from Britain must provide a written document of their lab test results (either hard copy or soft copy). The passengers must present the report to the airlines. Next, the airlines will be responsible for confirming the negative test results of all the passengers before taking off.  Shall the passengers refuse to take the test, the airlines have the right to deny their boarding. This order is due to be signed on Friday, 25 December 2020, and will be in effect from Monday, 28 December 2020.
