Halle Berry delivered some much-needed light amid dark times ahead of the weekend. The 53-year-old Oscar winner whose #FitnessFriday posts have been going steady for two years opted out of hardcore ab-flashing with her latest post. Halle, who recently founded her Re-Spin fitness brand and has been partnering up with Women’s Health Mag for inspiring wellness videos, touched on both exercise and the U.S.’ most-prominent issue right now – the May 25 murder of black man George Floyd and resulting riots and protests in all 50 states were given a nod, with Halle herself admitting that yoga helps her when she feels “overwhelmed.”

It’s always a little unusual with Halle. The “Catwoman” actress’ stunning, sun-drenched, and outdoor yoga post came with her stunning flexibility. It also included a glass wheel.

Friday brought Women’s Health Mag quoting the Hollywood star directly on Black Lives Matter.

“The current state of our country—and the world—makes it very easy to feel afraid, lost, and depressed. However, I think it’s absolutely essential that we all find ways to establish calm within ourselves amidst the uncertainty.”

“One of the most helpful stress-releasing practices for me is yoga. To me, it’s a physical form of meditation that allows me to move negative energy out of my body,” Halle added.

The star, followed by 6.2 million on her Instagram, has since racked up over 87,000 likes for a photo showing her arched back stretched over the training wheel as she flaunted her MMA-trained body in black leggings, a loose sleeveless tank, plus sneakers. The yogi who trains with personal trainer and “spirit animal” Peter Lee Thomas captioned her post, writing: “We have decided to continue with our #FitnessFriday takeover, and this week, we are talking about the ways I incorporate stretching and yoga into my daily routine. Bringing that much needed attention to my body with something like a yoga wheel helps manage my stress levels and releases the negative energy that can often take over when I feel overwhelmed.”

A quick look at the comments section shows a fanbase that appreciated a step back into calm amid unrest, murder, injustice, and the countless black individuals suffering at the hands of white police. Fans didn’t bring up the politics, but they voiced their gratitude.

“Damn I love your energy 👏👏👏,” one user wrote. “Everything about you is amazing! 🔥” another added. Tapping far more into gratitude over the peaceful vibes as Halle struck a yoga pose amid a garden just after rain, were fans responding to Women’s Health Mag. “Yes I feel like yoga brings me back to my center when life becomes chaotic,” a user had replied.

Halle addressed racism long before the 2020 resurgence of Black Lives Matter. Back in 2008, the star said she didn’t “think it should matter what the color of one’s skin is.” Two years later, speaking of her daughter Nahla Ariela Aubry, she said: “I feel like she’s black. I’m black and I’m her mother, and I believe in the one-drop theory.” Nahla’s father, Gabriel Aubry, is white.

Over on Halle’s Instagram, recent posts have honored more than just 46-year-old George Floyd. June 4 saw the actress post a #SayTheirNames collage of black individuals who have been killed. “The time is now,” she wrote as the collage included faces such as Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Aubrey, Akai Gurlery, and John Crawford.
