Farrah Abraham took less than an hour to have Instagram remembering her racist past this weekend. The former “Teen Mom OG” star joined the slew of celebrities taking to the platform to mark the murder of 46-year-old George Floyd – the black man whose neck was kneeled on by a white former police offer for over 8 minutes despite him saying: “Please, I can’t breathe” died as a result of the police brutality. Celebrity Instagram is now near 100% dedicated to Floyd.
Farrah’s post landed over the weekend. It saw the 29-year-old opt for a lengthy and emotional tribute using #blacklivesmatter as she posted a CNN-sourced video showing Floyd’s face, also adding her own words, which opened:
“For the love of GOD – I hope racism , hate , and power trips are removed from planet earth- why was only one police officer charged with murder? 4 officers were there?! 4 should be charged with murder! Every life matters, the kindness, the self control George Floyd showed to evil racist police officers while being suffocated & murdered I hope no other African American ever has to go through this or any person alive.”
Despite continuing with a plea for justice, the star’s tribute did not prove well-received, specifically because Farrah herself has made headlines in the past for racial slurs towards black people. 2016 saw Farrah lash out at model and ex to Rob Kardashian Blac Chyna: Her “seemingly unprompted” Twitter message read: “F**kin monkey ewe s**t come up 4 what she is a nothing.”
Also raised by Farrah’s followers was her “Marriage Boot Camp” appearance, with a slur on this series again showing the star to be racist. An argument with Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson’s mother Paula saw Paula call Farrah a “b*tch,” and “trailer trash,” with the mom to 11-year-old Sophia replying:
“This is some trailer park trash! Disgusting black piece of sh–.”
Unsurprisingly, the George Floyd post now sees Farrah getting called out. “Umm didn’t you say a racist slur in marriage boot camp family edition?” one fan asked. The comment generated replies, with one reading: “Yes!!! She’s used the n word many times & it’s caught on film. Just google it.” The exact same Google suggestion was voiced by another user. Farrah does not appear to have responded to the remarks.
George Floyd’s murder, now sparking violent riots across the U.S., has been marked by an unprecedented number of celebrities. Reality star Kim Kardashian spoke out, superstar singer Beyonce delivered a video, and stars including “RHOA” face Porsha Williams actually descended onto streets to protest police brutality and racial injustice. Support for the black community has also come from a large number of white celebrities including 22-year-old Kylie Jenner, “Harry Potter” face Emma Watson, and “thank u, next” singer Ariana Grande.
Farrah, meanwhile, has made negative headlines amid COVID-19 for wishing the virus on her own followers, although content on her Instagram this weekend was upbeat as she celebrated turning 29.
