Debris From a US Plane Engine Was Scattered Over Denver Homes

Apart from the scattered debris, the Boeing 777 returned safely and landed at Denver airport, and no one was reported to be injured.

Broomfield town Police uploads pictures of what resembles to be the front of an engine casing and photographs were shot in the front garden of a home.

None of the passengers on board were injured, and they described a large explosion shortly after take-off.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has reported that Flight 328, a United Airplanes plane bound Honolulu, suffered a failure in its right-hand engine and covered Denver homes with engine debris.

AP news agency interviewed a passenger who was on the flight, and the passenger said, “the pilot was making an announcement when there was a loud explosion.

“The plane started shaking violently, and we lost altitude and we started going down,” David Delucia said.

He further explained that he and his wife placed their wallets in their pockets so that we could be identified through IDs in case we did go down.

Several images that found their way to the internet showed smoke trailing from the engine. One video seemingly shot from inside the aircraft shows an engine on fire and stripped of its casing.

This incident occurred some minutes after 13:00 local time (20.00 GMT) on Saturday.

The residents are advised not to touch or move the debris by the Broomfield police. The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board are due to start an investigation in the area.

CNN reported that a Broomfield resident said that ” he had seen the debris fall from the plane and took shelter with his children as it started coming down.”

“We saw it go over, we heard the big explosion, we looked up, there was black smoke in the sky,” Kieran Cain said. “Debris started raining down, which you know, sort of looked like it was floating down and not very heavy, but now looking at it, it’s giant metal pieces all over the place .”

The reason behind the engine failure is still obscure. Jet engine failures are not an everyday occurrence, but it’s mostly caused by a rotating part, such as a turbine blade, breaking off and piercing the outer cowling. The plane, a Boeing 777-200, was built 26 years ago.

On the same day, an incident similar to the Denver incident also happen in the Netherlands. 30-year old Boeing 747 freighter experienced an engine failure and saw debris fall on a town in the Netherlands.
