The US is in a race to vaccinate its population amid a winter surge
The new covid-19 variant is expected to rise rapidly in the coming weeks, as reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in coming weeks.
It warned that the spike could pose more threat to the already strained health systems by the Winter cases surge.
The CDC released the statement on Friday as President-elect Joe Biden disclosed a driving schedule to put out vaccinations.
His target was to distribute the Covid vaccine to 100 million Americans within his first 100 days at the office; Mr. Biden explains that his government would be active in hastening the vaccine’s circulation.

A schedule was set up, including new mass vaccination centers, hiring extra health workers, and ensuring the jab is available to everyone, including the minority communities that have been seriously affected by the epidemic.
12.2 million vaccine doses of the Covid Vaccine have been issued in the US, and President-elect Joe Biden has criticized it as insufficient.
During his speech on Friday, Mr. Biden explained to the Americans that “we remain in a very dark winter,” admitting that “things will get worse before they get better.”
“This is going to be one of the most challenging operational efforts ever undertaken by our country,” Mr. Biden, who takes office on 20 January, said of the vaccination drive.
The number of reported Covid-19 cases in the US, 23.5 million, remains the highest in the world when the country coronavirus death, 391,000, is a fifth of the global total, which surpasses the 2million mark on Friday.
The state of California houses the pressing crisis, as the death recorded has risen more than 1,000% since November.
The Public Health England (PHE) newest research points that the new variant, now dominant in much of Britain – is between 30% and 50% more transmissible than the previous strains. There is presently no proof to cite that it causes any more severe illnesses.
Health experts have also dismissed the possibility that the current Covid Jab might not be sufficient.
76 people from 10 US states have been confirmed to have been tested positive with the UK Covid variant, known as B.1.1.7
There are two other variants – one from South Africa and one from Brazil – that are also thought to be more contagious than the original one that started the pandemic. Studies are underway to assess the threat they pose.
