
The covid-19 surge of the new variant will ensure all schools and colleges are closed to most pupils and switch to remote learning from Tuesday.
The UK PM also announced that the next few weeks would be the hardest yet with the rising covid-19 cases.
Boris Johnson explained that those in the top four priority groups would be assigned to the first vaccine dose by the middle of February.
Those scheduled to get the vaccine by mid-February includes all care home residents and their carers, everyone aged 70 and over, all frontline health and social care workers, and the clinically extremely vulnerable citizens.
All the students are scheduled to stay at home in Scotland, and Wales announces that school and colleges would shut until 18 January for most students.
Also, the Stormont Executive made it public that the schools in Northern Ireland will engage in an extended period of remote learning.
Boris Johnson told the media that Hospitals in Uk were under more pressure from Covid than at any time since the start of the pandemic.
He also repeated the slogan used during the first phase of the Covid-19 pandemic, compelling people to immediately “stay at home, protect the NHS, and save lives.”
Recent rules in England
● Like the first phase of the Covid-19 lockdown, Residents are not allowed to leave their homes except for legal reasons.
● These comprise essential medical needs, food shopping, exercise, and work for those who cannot do so from home.
● All schools and colleges will be close to most pupils from Tuesday with remote learning till the mid of February.
● Early years settings such as nurseries will stay open.
● End-of-year exams will not take place this summer as usual.
● Elsewhere, university students should not return to campuses and will be engaged in online classes.
● Restaurants can continue to offer food delivery, but takeaway alcohol will be banned.
● Outdoor sports venues – such as golf courses, tennis courts, and outside gyms – must close.
● But outdoor playgrounds will remain open.
● Amateur team sports are not allowed, but elite sport such as Premier League football can continue.
“While the rules become law in the early hours of Wednesday, people should follow them now,” Boris Johnson announced.
The announcement comes after the United Kingdom reported a record of 58,784 cases on Monday, as well as a total of 407 deaths from Covid-19 complications within 28 days of a positive test.
