Courtney Love Reveals She’s Been Sober for 18 Months

Courtney Love on Wednesday while accepting an award of honor at 2020 NME Awards, she got candid about her struggles with alcohol.

The outstanding celebrity “Celebrity Skin” singer collected the Icon Award at the NME show at London’s O2 Academy Brixton. Courtney Love while giving acceptance speech used the medium to tell her fans that she has been sober for over a year.

She began her speech as she collected the award “I didn’t prepare any speech, sorry I didn’t mean to be disrespectful”.

“I woke up this morning and I asked a friend like ‘Is it the 11th?’ because also today, the honor of picking up this wonderful f— you thing [the award is shaped like a middle finger] … I also have been 18 months sober today,” she revealed.

She continued, “I can’t believe that. That’s pretty wild. Thank you so much I’m very honored.”

Recall that Courtney Love was married to the Late Icon Kurt Cobain. She flaunted her shape, dressed chic for the event, wearing a short-length sheer maroon dress with an overlay of velvet flowers.

Furthermore, she took to her Instagram page to share a sentimental post, giving glory and appreciating everyone for her honor and looking back at different stages in her career.

The image added portrays Love and Singing on stage. It’s also an old image of herself laying with her late husband.

She wrote: “Looked with my team through images of my life – for the NME awards. tragic, weird, beautiful, wild, amazing, crazy,” she captioned the gallery. “None of it small, (until it got small.) F— small. what an honor to have worked with and loved some of the geniuses I have, and what an honor that they’ve worked with and loved me. #icon, yeah baby, I’ll take it. It’s cute,” she added.

The last two years seemed to have given up a new chapter for the “Celebrity Skin” singer. In 2018, she struggled with substance abuse, which was well documented in the media, most prominently with her appearance at the 1995 MTV VMA’s where she crashed an interview with Madonna.

Love was treated for an overdose of oxycontin back in 2003 and was ordered to rehab by a judge in 2005.
