Another Black Life “Daunte Wright” Claimed By A White Police Officer

The entire world has still not forgotten the brutal murder of George Floyd. However, according to the latest sources, a fresh concern has come into light regarding the way people are being treated and prejudiced based on skin color. This time it was Daunte Wright.

More Details About The Incident

On April 11, 2021, a fresh case of a black man’s murder has come to light. This time, the victim is a 20-year-old boy “Daunte Wright”. A white police officer shot dead the innocent victim in the Minneapolis suburb after a routine traffic stop.

Countless people including citizens, high-profile civil rights activists, family members, and friends of the deceased will be attending his funeral at Shiloh Temple International Ministries. It’s a historically black church in north Minneapolis. The Reverend Al Sharpton will deliver the eulogy, as he did at Floyd’s funeral last year. The service is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. CDT (1:00 p.m. ET)

Efforts Put Into Vain

Recently, a Minneapolis jury convicted Derek Chauvin for killing George Floyd by pressing his knee into his neck for more than nine minutes.  This conviction bought an assurance and satisfaction regarding the justice and further safety of black people in the US. People were much convinced about the end of brutality and racism in policing. However, this latest incident of the killing of Daunte Wright has put all the efforts into vain.

Video Footage Showing Daunte Wright’s Shooting

The released video footage is recovered from a bodycam which shows the deadly shooting of Daunte Wright. It shows multiple officers attempting to arrest the said person. However, things turned dirty, which resulted in a deadly shooting that ultimately killed Daunte.

Police officers were trying to arrest him for an outstanding warrant and an ensuing scuffle. The video also shows an officer threatening to stun the guy with her taser, before firing from the gun.

What The Officials Have To Say On Daunte Wright’s Incident?

Former police chief Tim Gannon says that Kimberly Potter mistakenly used her gun, while she was trying to use her taser. After the incident, Kimberly Potter has also resigned from her post. She has been charged with second-degree manslaughter. Currently, She has not entered a plea and her lawyer Earl Gray has not made any comment regarding the case yet.

Was It Really A Mistake?

Although the officials have claimed that Kimberly mistakenly used her gun instead of her taser. If that’s true, this incident clearly shows lacking ability meaning she is not fit to be a police officer. If that’s true, it’s a major question that how she was marked qualified to become a police officer.

The video is clear proof of her crime, and whether or not it was an accident, she is a murderer who must be convicted as soon as possible. Questions must be raised on officers who marked her qualified to be a police officer. Furthermore, the government must take some actions to ensure that no police officer in the US is dull enough to mistakenly use a gun instead of a taser in the future.
